Act of kindness warms hearts

"Thoughts and prayers from my family to yours." These are the inspirational words sent from a fifth-grader at Farmersville Elementary School to patients and staff at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN).

Kind gesture makes a big impact

Kacy Erhart is home from school due to the impact of coronavirus (COVID-19). After completing her school work one day, she wanted to spread some positivity in her community. What better way than to write a letter to her local hospital, Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Muhlenberg?

Her small act of kindness made a big impact on colleagues at LVH–Muhlenberg who are working hard to provide care and keep patients safe. “We were so happy when we received Kacy’s letter – it made everyone’s day,” says Mary Anne Trycinski, Executive Secretary at LVH–Muhlenberg. “She’s got a big heart,” says Kacy’s dad, Jared Erhart. “She’s always looking for ways to help other people.” Kacy encourages staff to stay strong saying, “You guys are doing such a good job!” To patients, she offers these kind words, “Hope you all get well soon.”

Staying connected

As many of us are looking for ways to maintain social connections while practicing social distancing, we’re turning to technology to help. Kacy uses video chat to stay in touch with her aunts, uncles and grandparents while everyone stays home. “Kacy’s the glue that keeps us connected,” says her dad.

Thank you, Kacy, for showing us all how a simple gesture of kindness in the face of adversity can mean so much.
