As LVHN marks day 100 of COVID-19 operations, the health network is entering Phase 3 of its efforts to overcome COVID-19. During this phase, LVHN will develop and implement a plan for living with COVID-19 in the months ahead. In this week’s CEO Update Video, LVHN President and CEO Brian Nester, DO, MBA, FACOEP, discusses what leaders are considering as a plan is developed. Watch the video or read the transcript below.

Earlier this week, we marked day 100 of COVID-19 operations. Working together, we accomplished remarkable things in the past 100 days. Thank you so much for all you have done.

Our work thus far can be categorized in phases. During Phase 1, we immediately responded to the crisis. We opened Assess and Test locations; ensured we had adequate supply of PPE, medication and equipment; enhanced our virtual care capabilities and so much more.

Now we’re in Phase 2, which is all about recovery. Led by EROC, we reopened services, implemented new safety protocols, and are instilling confidence by showing our community how we deliver safe care.

Our efforts are working. Patient volumes continue to rise. In some areas, like LVPG, they are back to normal.

With day 100 behind us, we are now entering Phase 3. During this phase, we will develop and implement a plan for living with COVID-19 in the months ahead. No one knows what the future holds, so our plan will cover all scenarios and set us up for success.

For example, if a second wave of COVID-19 hits, if it is more significant than the first wave, or if it hits during flu season, we’ll be ready. We’ll make sure we have adequate supply of PPE, ventilators and everything else we need to provide quality care.

What will health care look like if COVID-19 remains part of our lives for a year or more? We will consider that question too and think about how our health network could transform and evolve to meet our community’s needs.

LVHN is a strong organization because we always look ahead. No matter what the future holds, we’ll be ready. With a thorough and thoughtful plan in place – and a skilled and dedicated team of health care heroes implementing our plan – we can ensure the people of our community that at LVHN – you will always be safe with us.
