This new hospital, part of Lehigh Valley Health Network, will open in July 2021.
Located just off Route 33 along Hecktown Road in Lower Nazareth Township, Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute’s new 35,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art center will offer an expansive array of cancer services and compassionate care close to home.
“This new full-service facility will provide comprehensive, expert cancer care in a beautiful, comfortable and convenient space,” says hematologist oncologist Ranju Gupta, MD, with LVPG Hematology Oncology. “Patients won’t have to go anywhere else to receive the highest standard of care in the world.”

Full range of breast health services. As a breast cancer center of excellence, Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute–Hecktown Oaks will feature the latest lifesaving breast screening, diagnostic and treatment technologies, such as:
- 3D mammography that allows specialists to examine breast tissue layer by layer for a higher degree of accuracy in locating abnormalities.
- Automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) to improve cancer detection for women with dense breast tissue.
- Cerianna – a new drug that detects estrogen receptor (ER)-positive lesions on PET scan images without the need for invasive biopsies.
- Leading-edge surgical options, for both benign and malignant breast conditions, performed in high-end surgical suites by board-certified surgeons. “We offer the most advanced technologies, including SAVI SCOUT ®, a wire-free radar localization that lets us pinpoint a tumor’s location using a tiny implanted reflector and eliminates the need to implant an uncomfortable wire prior to surgery,” says surgical oncologist Lori Alfonse, DO, with LVPG Surgical Oncology.
Radiation oncology. Through Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute’s nationally recognized radiation therapy program, patients will have access to the most innovative technologies and techniques, including linear accelerator (LINAC)-based radiotherapy that targets deep-seated tumors with minimal effect on adjacent healthy tissue, and offers shorter courses of treatment.
Chemotherapy and other outpatient infusion therapies. Oncology-certified nurses will administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy and other targeted therapies in private infusion bays that offer patients calming views of a magnificent healing garden located on the LVH–Hecktown Oaks campus. “Infusion patients won’t just look at a wall,” says Gupta. “Seeing the garden can help diminish stress and make the experience more comfortable.”
Multidisciplinary Cancer Clinics (MDC). MDCs allow patients to meet with their care team –
including a medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, surgeon and nurse navigator – to ask questions and devise a personalized treatment plan.
Rehabilitation services. Patients will have access to adjunct care such as lymphedema therapy (opening in September), physical therapy and occupational therapy to help relieve the impacts of cancer treatment, including fluid buildup in tissues, fatigue and pain.
Cancer support services. Additional specialized care will be available to ease physical and emotional worries that patients may face during their cancer journey. These include genetic risk counseling, personalized cancer nutrition therapy, counseling services and cancer financial coordination services.
