Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute will hold its second annual Celebration of Champions event virtually Nov. 7, 2020, 6:45 p.m. This exciting event will celebrate area cancer survivors as well as nurses, physicians and other health care professionals.

“At Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute we understand that cancer care doesn’t stop – even for COVID-19,” says Suresh Nair, MD, Physician in Chief, Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute. “This event is an opportunity for us to thank all of our health care heroes who continued to work tirelessly to deliver the highest level of care, regardless of the circumstances, and our survivors who never gave up.”

The program will feature inspiring patient stories, including the story of Andy Derr whose battle with kidney cancer led to the creation of the Andy Derr Foundation, this year’s Celebration of Champions award recipient. Viewers also will have the opportunity to hear firsthand from providers about some of the challenges they faced this year and get a look at the newest inpatient unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, 5KS.

Proceeds from the event will support:

  • Prager Patient Assistance Fund, which provides financial assistance to cancer patients for nonmedical everyday needs.

  • Cancer Institute Clinical Research Fund, which provides direct support for revolutionary new cancer research with the ultimate goal of making cancer more manageable and potentially more curable.

  • Cancer Institute Behavioral Health Fund, which supports Cancer Institute patients’ mental and emotional health throughout their cancer journey.
