Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono Nationally Recognized for Patient Safety

Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Pocono earned its sixth “A” grade from one of health care’s most reliable evaluators of quality and patient safety standards; The Leapfrog Group. The national recognition supports LVH–Pocono’s consistency in demonstrating the highest standards of care for patients.

The ratings, released today, reflect how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The Safety Score is designed to give the public information that is useful for choosing a hospital for care.

“Celebrating our sixth ‘A’ from Leapfrog is a badge of honor we wear proudly. This distinction is a reflection of the unwavering dedication and compassion to ensure our community receives the highest level of care in a safe environment, which they expect from our physicians, nurses and all our colleagues,” said Elizabeth Wise, RN, FACHE, President of Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono.

“Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades recognize hospitals like LVH–Pocono that focus on advancing patient safety. This ranking provides an important resource for patients, and a benchmark for hospitals, to determine how care at one hospital compares to others in a region,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an A Hospital Safety Grade deserve to be recognized for their efforts in preventing medical harm and errors.”

Developed under the guidance of a National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year.

The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

Full grade details and patient tips for staying safe in the hospital are available at www.hospitalsafetygrade.org and by following the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade on Twitter and Facebook.
