LVHN Partners With Lehigh County to Relocate Allentown COVID-19 Assess and Test Center

To continue to provide COVID-19 testing in Allentown, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is partnering with Lehigh County to relocate its Allentown Assess and Test Center site.

The site that opened in March at the Lehigh Valley Family Health Center at 1730 Chew St. will set up operations at the Old Lehigh County Courthouse at 501 Hamilton St. beginning Tuesday, May 12. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday8 a.m. to 5 p.m.and weekends9 a.m. to 3 p.m.both days.

The Assess and Test Center at the Old Courthouse will be located on the first floor and accessible through the rear of the building. Signage will direct patients where to go for COVID-19 testing.

The Assess and Test Center that was located at the Family Health Center temporarily moved to 401 N. 17th St. recently when Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG) reopened the Family Health Center among more than 50 practices and select ExpressCARE locations across the region on May 1 as part of COVID-19 recovery. LVHN alerted Lehigh County’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA), which continues to work closely with LVHN to ensure constituency health care is maintained, that it needed a new testing location in Allentown.

Rick Molchany, Director of General Services reached out to County Executive Phillips Armstrong and President Judge Edward Reibman and they were overwhelmingly supportive of his plan. Within 24 hours, the Old Courthouse facility, destined for a major renovation, was made available for LVHN.

“During the pandemic, we need to rally and partner to provide services to our local community, and I am proud of the efforts made,” Armstrong said. Molchany added, “This is the type of partnership that leads to successful outcomes, and Lehigh County and Lehigh Valley Health Network are serving needs in the center of the local pandemic”.

Individuals are sent to LVHN COVID-19 Assess and Test locations in a number of ways, including by their primary care provider, if they have been pre-identified as having symptoms of COVID-19 when seeking care at an LVHN or LVPG practice, or if they have been screened virtually by E-Visit, Video Visit, or over the phone at 888-402-LVHN (5846).
