The Fight Behind Closed Doors

At LVH-Muhlenberg's Intensive Care Unit, front-line doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists are behind closed doors fighting the fight with our sickest community members. Life-saving equipment lines the hallways so caregivers can operate medical devices from outside the rooms when patients do not need them by the bedside. This protects our caregivers and our patients, and preserves PPE for critical moments.

This moment was captured in awe by Bob Begliomini, President of LVH-Muhlenberg and Senior Vice President of LVHN Operations, during his morning rounds when teams were in rooms attending to patients. "The doctors, nurses, the respiratory therapists, the whole team - they're incredible; they're heroes," he says. "It's a sobering reminder that the most important thing we can do is stay away from each other. Stay home, and you can save a life."

If you feel sick - or have symptoms of fever, shortness of breath or cough - don't panic. Most people with COVID-19 recover, but it's critical you take the right steps for everyone's safety. First, stay home. Second, get a free pre-screening online or on the phone with an LVHN medical professional. If testing is warranted, you will be routed to one of LVHN's Assess and Test Centers.
