Vote for your favorite art in the Community Canvas Grand Finale
BY ERIN ALDERFER
Thirty elementary school students have made it to the final round – the Grand Finale – in the Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital Community Canvas competition.
These students may not have been in a classroom for the last few months, but that doesn’t mean their education – or creativity – came to an end. They have continued to think about the lessons learned about healthy living from the Children’s Hospital and its partners ArtSpark and the Kellyn Foundation.
Each of the 14 participating schools held an art competition for students to express what they had learned. Bicycling broccoli and skateboarding strawberries came to life on canvas to illustrate the virtues of healthy food and exercise. When put to a world-wide vote, the top two works of art from each school, plus two wildcard winners, moved on to the finale.
On Saturday, June 13, students created their art at home, with everyone using the same art supplies. Artwork is now available for voting at LVHN.org/canvas from noon today, June 17 to noon on June 19.
Anyone can vote – no connection to a school or artist is necessary.
The winners will be crowned at noon on June 20.
Here are a few finalists that explain just what Community Canvas has meant to them...
